JENNINGS, FL: David P. Baker, 67, of Jennings, Florida and formerly of Mansfield died on Sunday August 31, 2008 following a sudden illness.
David was born on November 1, 1940 in Mansfield to Paul E. and Ruth Eve (Poulton) Baker and graduated from Johnsville High School.
David retired from the former Empire Detroit Steel in 1995 after working for 31 years as a pipe fitter.
He is survived by his children and their spouses Shelly and Jim Patton of Arcadia, Fl, Cheryl Baker of Tampa, Fl, and Patrick and Julie Baker of Lexington; grandchildren Kaelea and Justin Patton, Kara Leigh, Quinton, Brayden, and Bryson Baker; brothers and sisters-in-law Ted and Martha Baker of Jasper Fl, Joseph and Rosemary Baker of Fort Myers, Fl, and Roger and Jean Baker of Lexington, a sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Bill Vanderkoo of Galion and a sister Virginia Fidler of Johnsville.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his son David Dean Baker, brothers Ronald and Robert Baker, and a brother-in-law Carrol Fidler.
The family will receive friends on Friday September 5, 2008 from 10-12pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where a memorial service will be held at 12pm.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes memorial contributions to be made to benefit the David’s grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made at the funeral home.
