BELLVILLE: David L. Brokaw Jr. passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018 in Country Meadow Care Center surrounded by his family. He was 59.

He was born May 26, 1958 in Mansfield to parents David L. Sr. & Marjorie (Steele) Brokaw. David worked at Clear Fork Schools as a janitor for many years before retiring.

In spare time, he enjoyed working on cars, his favorite was his Chevy trucks, fishing and hunting. He had some hunting dogs to help him hunt rabbits to squirrels to deer. He even enjoyed going frog gigging. But above all, David cherished time spent with his family, especially with his grand-children. He would jump at the chance to spoil his grand-children or take them fishing.

He is survived by his daughter and her fiancé Amanda Brokaw and Christopher Reeves; 5 grand-daughters Jennifer Mellott, Kacie Petrik, Kortney Petrik, Isabella Reeves and Zoe Reeves; sisters Crystal Brokaw, Eva and Don Bolding, Lisa Butler and Dedric Burton; brothers Vincent Brokaw Sr. and Mark Brokaw Sr. and his wife Regena; nieces Marjorie (Carl) McFarland, Shauntell (Brandon) Spears, Marjorie Butler and Tina (Jack) Shephard; nephews Jerry Spears Jr. and Ashley, Mark Brokaw Jr. and his wife Angie, Jason Brokaw, Vincent Brokaw Jr. and Gary Butler Jr.; great-nieces and nephews Savanah McFarland, Logan McFarland, Daniel Shephard, Marlin Shephard, Fayth Spears, Hunter Spears, Sully Spears, Mila Spears, Athena Shephard Aubrie Brokaw and Austin Brokaw.

David was preceded in death by his parents David L. Brokaw Sr. and Marjorie Joann (Steele) Brokaw.

The Brokaw family will receive friends Wednesday, March 7, 2018 from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home. A graveside service honoring David’s life will be held in Bellville Cemetery beginning at 2:15 p.m.
