David E. Penn, age 74, of Galion, Ohio, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday evening, May 31, 2015.

On April 12, 1941, David was born in Delaware, Ohio, the youngest of 8 children of the late Robert L. and Effie L. (Chambers) Penn.  He grew up in Delaware, Ohio, and attended Delaware Willis High School.  He was a member of the Delaware Auxiliary Police Department.  He worked numerous factory jobs, including HPM in Mount Gilead.  He collected tractors and toy trains.  He enjoyed going to yard sales, flea markets and auctions.  He never met a stranger and loved to talk to people.  He attended Wesley Chapel Church of Christ in Christian Union in Galion, Ohio.

On March 22, 1963, David married the love of his life, Anita L. (Snell) Penn in Delaware, Ohio.  They were married for 36 years.  She preceded him in death on September 14, 1999.

Left to cherish his memory are his four children: Letitia (Ted) Sipe, Candace L. Penn, Sherri J. Penn, and David E. Penn II; three grandchildren: Noah Penn, Philip (Samantha) Sipe, and Jay Sipe; two great-grandchildren: Riley Ann Sipe and Harvey Sipe; two brothers: Albert Penn, and Elmer (Mary) Penn; a sister, Lillian Weaver; a sister-in-law, Rose Penn; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Including his wife and parents, David was preceded in death by his brother, Lawrence Penn; and three sisters: Hazel Hornsby, Ruth Stevens and Martha Jones.

His family will greet friends from 10 – 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 4th, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead.  Services honoring his life will follow at 11 a.m., with Pastor Joe Stafford of Wesley Chapel, Galion, Ohio.  Burial will follow in Fulton Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with unexpected expenses.
