MANSFIELD: Danny L. Wolfe, age 55, of Mansfield passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2011 following an industrial accident.

He was born February 26, 1956 in Mansfield, the son of Allen J. and Helen Arbutus (Compton) Wolfe. Danny was graduated from Madison High School in 1974 with honors, and attended The Ohio State University.

Danny worked the past year as a machinist for Americarb, Inc. in Ashland and had also worked for Mansfield Plumbing, Luke Manufacturing, Timken, and Westinghouse.

A lifelong area resident, Danny was a member of the Steel Workers Union.

A true man’s man, Danny enjoyed athletic and other competitive sports. He loved baseball and enjoyed umpiring local high school games. Danny excelled at the game of pool, and played on several local leagues, and even participated in the coveted National Tournament in Las Vegas. He was also involved in several bowling leagues, and loved riding his motorcycle.

Danny was also a giving person who helped many of his friends, it could be said that he wore his heart on his sleeve.

Above all these accomplishments in Danny’s life, he was most proud to be a father to his two sons. He was a wonderful father, always there with a kind word or practical advice whenever the boys needed it. He was full of pride with every milestone in their lives, be it military, family, or work, Danny’s sons knew they were loved.

He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Daniel and Crystal Wolfe of Wilmington, NC, and MA2 (SW) Bradley Wolfe of the U.S. Navy and Melissa Wolfe of Milton, FL, four grandchildren whom he truly adored Knight Lee Wolfe, Ayden B. Wolfe, Taylor D. Barcroft, and Kaylee Wolfe; two sisters Beverly and MSGT James Miley of Mansfield, their daughter Crissy Kellner, Helen A. and Greg Bush of Seville, their son Evan Bush, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Danny was preceded in death by his father Allen J. Wolfe on February 12, 1998, and an infant sister Connie Wolfe in 1957, and his grandmother Artie M. Compton on March 7, 2003.

Friends may call Tuesday, March 8, 2011 from 4-8 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where the funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 am. Pastor Rob Ratcliff will officiate. Burial will follow in Shauck Cemetery.
