Daniel R. Allen, 59, of Galena, passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer Thursday, October 30, 2014 at his residence.

He was born October 6, 1955, of Gaylord, Michigan, to Robert C. and Edith Joyce (Evans) Allen.

Dan was a 1974 graduate of Big Walnut High School and was an avid OSU Buckeyes fan. He enjoyed the great outdoors and spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Arika (Chad) Sandridge of Alabama; Andee (Chad) Fetta; sons, Daniel (Stephanie) Allen, Adam (Lauren) Allen, all of Indiana; grandchildren, Jackson, Alivia, Cameron, Haleigh, Hanna, Cole and Grahm; mother, Joyce Allen-Davis of Galena; sisters, Bambi (Richard) Hill of Westerville and Treena (Bob) Smith of Galena; brother, Tom (Sandy) Allen of South Carolina as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. .

He was preceded in death by his father Robert Allen; nephew, Austin Smith; grandparents, one aunt,two uncles and three cousins.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 1st from 6:30 – 7:30 pm at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SRs 3 at 61, Sunbury, where the funeral service will follow at 7:30 pm with Pastor Frank Carl officiating. Inurnment in Glenn Rest Memorial Estates will be at a later date.

  • All of us here at Logan Landing in Alabama will miss Dan greatly. He spent 2 years with us as a camper and great friend.
    A special friendship developed when we found that Dan and Sam had both worked for the same company in WI. There were many long talks and wonderful memories.
