Dana Herbert Amos, age 70, of Sunbury, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2013 at Dublin Methodist Hospital. He was born May 25, 1943, in Columbus, to the late Fred Herbert and Marcella White Amos.

Dana graduated from Linden McKinley High School in 1961 where he met his wife and mother of his children, Gloria Grady. A former charter captain on Lake Erie, Dana enjoyed time spent on the open water. A true outdoorsman, Dana loved hunting, fishing and raising bird dogs. He played golf and was a former member of the New Albany County Club.

Dana was known as a caring, giving gentleman. He loved to play poker, or “going to work” as he called it. Family was most important to him and he always cherished the annual hunting trips in North Dakota and the relaxing vacations in the Keys with his sons and brothers.

He is survived by his son Randy (Carol) Amos of Sunbury; grandchildren: Dayna, Danielle, Jacob and Megan Amos; brothers Jerry (Kathy) Amos of Sunbury, Fred (Jerrie) Amos of Powell; daughter-in-law Sue Amos of Blacklick; several nieces and nephew, as well as a lifelong group of wonderful friends.

In addition to his parents, Dana was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria and his son Rob.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 & 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR’s 3 at 61, Sunbury where services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Mike Mack officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
