BELLVILLE: Dalton Joe Hollar passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017 in his Bellville home surrounded by his family. He was 83.
He was born October 6, 1933 in Butler to parents Wayne & Gertrude (Alspach) Hollar. After he graduated from Butler High School, he proudly served his country by joining the US Army. Following his service during the Korean War, he was honorably discharged January 23, 1957.
Joe worked at Stone Container, where he worked for over 40 years until retiring in 1990.
A huge fan of Ohio’s sports teams, Joe passionately cheered for the Browns, Indians, Cavaliers, and Ohio State Buckeyes. He loved playing cards especially Euchre. Joe could watch classic Western movies all day long and even enjoyed watching WWE Wrestling even though he knew it was fake.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn Bernice Hollar of Bellville; his children Allen Hollar of Canton, Wilma (Roger) Steward of Bellville, Susan Hollar of Bellville, Sherry Swank of Ontario, and Jennifer (David) Neighbors of Bellville; grandchildren; great grandchildren; and his sister Wanda Murray of Kentucky.
In addition to his parents, Dalton was preceded in death by ten siblings.
The Hollar family will receive friends Friday, March 17, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home. A funeral service honoring Joe’s life will be held Saturday March 18, 2017 at 11 a.m. Pastor Doug Pretorius will officiate. Military honors will be performed by the Bellville American Legion Post# 535 with burial to follow in Bunkerhill Cemetery.
