Dale S. Douglas, age 81, of Marion and Leesburg Florida, died peacefully Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at home following his battle with cancer. He was born May 10, 1930 in Richwood, OH to the late George A. “Fred” and Anna Marie (Riley) Douglas. He was preceded in death by his wife Beverly A. (Burke) on October 8, 1999. Dale served for the U.S. Army in Korea and then worked for the State of Ohio Department of Transportation in Delaware, as a supervisor, for more than 39 years.

He is survived by sons: Scott A. (Pam) Douglas of New Bloomington, Robert A. (Janette) Douglas of Marion; daughters: Deborah C. (Bob) Bosart of Green Camp, OH, Lisa R. (Jeff)Gainer of Marion; step son Glen A Koons Jr. of Delaware, OH; step daughters Deborah A Koons-DeWolf of Richwood, OH, Diane (Lonnie) Buckner of Marion; 11 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters: Linda Douglas and Diana Arthur; two brothers: Donald and Dwight Douglas; special companion Bonny Sue Maddrell; and two grandsons: Allen Douglas and Nathen Buckner.
Dale formerly attended Emanuel Lutheran Church and Radnor Congregational Church. He was a member of American Legion, AM VETS, Moose, and V.F.W. Dale enjoyed spending time in Florida, Walleye fishing, his dog Scotty, and traveling with the Russ Fagan Combo.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors with Rev. Keith Irey officiating and Marion County United Veterans Council conducting Military Rites. Following the service, friends are invited to join the family for a meal at the VFW Post 3313, 961 N Main St. A private burial will be held.   • I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Dale. He was a great person and was a big part of my life. I worked with Dale at ODOT and even when he was an consultant. He was mentor, my co-work but mainly he was my friend. I was happy to see him when I retired 2 yrs ago at my party. I am going to miss him alot but I will always remember him. To me he was the best. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you he was a good person.
