Craig M. Nordmoe

November 26, 1961 ‒ February 18, 2021

Mount Vernon, Ohio

Craig Michael Nordmoe, dearly beloved of his family and friends, passed away on February 18th, 2021.

Craig was born to Marianne(Cowan) Nordmoe and Ronald Nordmoe on November 26, 1961 in Rockford, IL. He joined his older brother Gary and home and soon had a younger brother, Brian. The family moved to Decorah, IA where Craig graduated from high school and went on to school at Luther College.

He met his wife Robin at Luther in 1980. The two eventually married on March 28, 1989 and were known to joke, “Well, we didn’t want to rush into anything.” They moved to Plainview, MN and brought three sons into the world; Paul (1992), Peter (1994), and Isaac (1995). The family moved to their current Mt. Vernon home in 2001.

Craig has always been devoted to his family, and to their care and comfort. He leaves in our hearts a shining example of faithfulness, generosity, and self-sacrificing love. His constant concern for the feelings and needs of others dominated all of his relationships, making him beloved among family, friends and co-workers. It must also be said that he always had a talent for when and what to say to make us laugh, be it ridiculous or raunchy.

Craig is survived by his wife Robin (Bailey) Nordmoe, sons Paul and Isaac, his parents Ron and Marianne Nordmoe, and his brothers Gary (Melody) Nordmoe and Brian (Jennifer) Nordmoe. He is preceded in death by his son Peter Bailey Nordmoe.

Due to COVID restrictions, interment will be announced at a later date.

  • I am so sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure to spend 3 weeks in Austria teaching the support team for IBM. I remember how we had a rental car that did not sound good… Craig was driving 🙂 We got it swapped out and a few months later Craig gets a piece of mail that says he needs to pay his speeding ticket he received while over there. To find out that it was the old car and the person that swapped it out was driving 🙂 Craig was a great person and will be missed by many…. again so sorry for your loss…

  • So very sorry to hear of Craig’s passing. I worked with Craig for many, many years, dating back to his time in development when we worked side by side, and then continued to work with him after the support center stole him away from us. It turned out to be a win-win since he was truly the best of the best, no matter what job he was in. We always knew that when he called or opened a discussion item with development it was a real problem, because he knew more than the rest of us. He was also one of the most pleasant and kindest co-workers I’ve ever worked with. He had a rare blend of both technical and people skills that will surely be missed by many.
My sincerest sympathy to his dear family.

His wonderful sense of humor never failed to make people laugh. His smile would like up his face and the faces of those around him. Back in college I remember him trying to teach me D & D, which was a hopeless endeavor. Robin, it’s was great fun watching the two of you fall in love. It seems like yesterday.

May God be with all of you. May you find comfort is His arms and feel the love and support of family and friends. Take care of yourselves.
