Corey Joseph Hughes, age 38, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2018 at Knox Community Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 26, 1980 in Mount Vernon, Ohio the son of Keith and Tyanna (Harris) Hughes.

Corey enjoyed Christmas music as well as some of his favorite artists including Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, George Jones and Hank Williams Jr.  He also enjoyed watching movies at the theater and in the comfort of his own home.   Corey liked boats, campers, car shows, eating out with family and friends and taking rides in the truck looking at the wildlife in the country.  He was an avid fan of Ohio State University football and basketball teams and loved Halloween time and decorating his apartment.

He is survived by his parents; paternal grandmother, Wanda Cole; an aunt, Jennifer Lucas of Grove City; special cousins, Timmy Lucas and Steve Looney; many other cousins; special friends and caretakers, Janell Wells, Carly Wolff, Mike and Terri Hillier and canine friend Izzy.

Corey was preceded in death by his paternal grandfathers, Leslie Hughes and Gordon Cole; maternal grandparents, Bill and Imogene Harris.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High Street, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050 where friends may call from 5 p.m. until the time of service.

Memorial contributions in Corey’s name may be made to Hospice of Knox County.
