MANSFIELD: Constance Dean Adair, 89, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2013 in her Mansfield home surrounded by family.

The daughter of Ernest and Gladys Dean, Constance was born September 4, 1923 in Plainfield, New Jersey.

After graduating from Westfield high school, Constance majored in English, earning her degree from William Smith College in Geneva, New York where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Society. Constance also worked for University Hospital in Cleveland.

On April 1, 1944 she married Dr. Charles Adair, together they cherished nearly 69 years of marriage. Loving and caring, Constance enjoyed her role as wife and mother.

She was a member of First Congregational Church, Nomads, Westbrook Country Club, served as past officer for the Richland County Medical Society Auxiliary, served on the board for YWCA, and participated in the OUR Club along with her husband Dr. Charles Adair.

Constance loved the beach and enjoyed shelling on Sanibel, making and sharing shell ornaments with family and friends.

Constance is survived by her husband Dr. Charles Adair of Mansfield; sons Allen (Cheryl) Adair of Upper Arlington and Richard (Joyce) Adair of Mansfield; grandchildren Michael (Megan), Elizabeth, Kenneth(Elizabeth) and Jeffrey (Stacy); great grandchildren James, Abigail, Nathan and Benjamin.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings Raymond, Margaret, and Walter; granddaughter Jennifer.

The Adair family has chosen the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home for compassionate cremation services. In accordance with her wishes, the family will commemorate her life privately.

Memorial contributions to the Richland County Foundation, United Way of Richland County, or charity of donor’s choice may be made through the funeral home.
