JOHNSVILLE: Some kids are just gifted, and Colin Stair was full of compassion and intelligence beyond his age. From elementary school to BMX racing and cooking, Colin always finished in first place. Tough as a Tank, and as loveable as a Teddy Bear, Colin was his family’s tender hearted peacemaker.
Colin James Stair Extraordinaire unexpectedly passed away Sunday afternoon, August 23, 2015 at his home in Johnsville. He was nine and a half years old.
Colin was born February 6, 2006 in Marion the son of Thomas Stair and Heidi Stair. He was a third grader at Northmor Elementary School.
He loved BMX racing and earned countless trophies and medals. Mechanically gifted and eager to attain more knowledge, at the young age of 9 he could fix just about anything.
A gifted cook, Colin recently placed 2nd in the Dayton Chili Cook-off showcasing his homemade sauce.
His little brother’s protector, Colin and Carston were inseparable.
Colin will be remembered for his beautiful heart and caring personality.
He is survived by his mother Heidi Stair of Johnsville; father Thomas Stair of Mansfield; brother Carston Thomas Stair; sister Kylee Ann Stair; maternal grandparents Patrick & Pamela Gassaway of Mt. Gilead; paternal grandmother Joretta Belle Stair of Mansfield; maternal great-grandparents Cliff & Maxine Hardin of Mansfield and Mary Gassaway of Florida; aunts and uncles Holly & Bobby Frederick, Trisha & Jason Baker, Flossie Jane Stair (who was also Colin’s Godmother), Danny Stair, Nancy & Bill Hogan, Mary Stair, James Russell Stair, Jr., and Shirley Back; special cousins Bryson, Hunter, Gavriel, Blake, Kaylen, Embree, Adriella, Ariah, Chandler, Grayson, Caiden; and numerous extended family members.
Colin was preceded in death by an uncle Danny Stair; paternal grandfather Rev. James R. Stair; and maternal great-grandparents Diane Hardin and Richard Gassaway.
His family will receive friends 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2015 in Snyder Funeral Home, 2553 Lexington Avenue, where his funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Rev. Troy Wooten will officiate and burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
