Clyde C. Saunders Sr.

Clyde C. Saunders Sr., age 73 of, Millwood, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday July 28, 2007 at his residence. Clyde was born June 30, 1934 in Lock to Clarence Peter Saunders and Melissa Ann (Moreland) Saunders and had spent his lifetime in the Knox County area. He served with the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Clyde had been employed as a welder for the Flexible Corporation in Loudonville.
Surviving are his daughters and sons-in-law Linda and Mike Smith of Millwood, Diantha Bruff of Mount Vernon, Peggy and Randy McFarland of Nellie Village, and Bonnie and Dale Smith of Warsaw; his sons and daughters-in-law Clyde and Molly Saunders Jr. and Dennis Saunders both of Mount Vernon, and Tony and Veronica Saunders of Fredericktown; 19 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; his sister Myrta Shellenbarger of Mount Vernon and his brother Gerald Saunders of Mount Vernon. Besides his parents Clyde was preceded in death by his wife Ruth D. (Strouse) Saunders in 1987, a granddaughter Melissa Smith, a grandson Brent Kuhl, five sisters Opal Hissong Roache, Anna Mae McPherson, Garnet Saunders, Esther Frene Willey and Alice Frye and two brothers Clarence L. Saunders and Donald Saunders.
Friends may call Monday July 30 from 5 PM to 8 PM at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon where funeral services will be Tuesday July 31at 11 AM with Rev. Donald Matolyak officiating. Burial with military honors by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Knox County Head Start.
