BELLVILLE: Clifford Smith, age 55 of Bellville, passed away Monday, October 21, 2013 due to injuries sustained during a workplace accident in Columbus.
He was born in Bell County, TX on November 9, 1957. His father, Clenny Smith, Jr. and mother, Sandra (Smith) Robison both preceded him in death. He was graduated from Malabar High School with the class of 1976.
Cliff’s first job was with Barry & Son Electrical where he worked with his father-in-law for 18 years before running the company an additional 12 years. Recently, he was working for the Romanoff Electric Group where he started in 2008.
He was a hard worker who was fiercely loyal and loved his family. In spare time, he enjoyed fishing mostly for the quiet time away, and was an excellent cook.
Cliff attended First Church of God in Ontario.
He is survived by his wife Diane (Cress) Smith whom he married October 14, 2000; two sons Brandon (Gabrielle) Smith of Lincoln, NE and Kip (Barbara) Smith of Lewis Center; a daughter Kara Workman of Bellville; nine grandchildren Elizabeth, Evan, Elias, and Ean Smith, Andrew and Lucas Smith and Trey, Damien, and Kaleb Workman; two siblings Gary (Cecile) Smith and Tammy Mullins all of Mansfield; his mother-in-law Ramona Cress of Bucyrus, mother-in-law and father-in-law Ron and Shirley Barry of Mansfield; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Tim Cress, Deb and Mike Lester all of Bucyrus, Leanne and Mark Collins of Ontario, Pam and Darrell Corwin of Ashland, Jill and Dennis Horvath of Litchfield, and Mike and Autumn Barry of Ontario, and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
In addition to his parents, Clifford was preceded in death by his first wife Ronda (Barry) Smith on September 9, 1999; and father-in-law Jack Cress.
The family will receive friends 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 25, 2013 in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where his funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. Pastor Jeffery Gray will officiate and burial will follow in Vermillion Cemetery near Hayesville.
