Clayton L. Souder

          Clayton L. Souder, 78, of Fredericktown died Sunday morning, March 12, 2017 at his home.  He was born September 14, 1938 in Columbus to the late Homer and Pearl Souder.

          Clayton was a member of Fredericktown First Presbyterian Church.  He was a retired stone cutter for Briar Hill Stone in Glenmont. Clayton enjoyed woodworking and going to tractor pulls to watch his son, Bill and granddaughter, Kimberley pull.

          Clayton is survived by his son, Bill (Jana) Souder of Fredericktown; grandchildren, John (Lisa) Cole of Marion and Kimberley Jo Cole and her fiancé Lucas Vinhaes of Marengo; and his feline companions, Snowball and Pumpkin.

          In addition to his parents, Clayton was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth (Garner) Souder on November 18, 2012.

          The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of a funeral services at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 17, 2017 at the Snyder Funeral Home, 33 East College St., Fredericktown with Pastor Christine Burns officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery, Fredericktown.

    I am so sorry to hear of Clayton passing. I am going to miss taking him to J.O.Y. Club and seeing him on Sundays. He was very dedicated to the Lord. I will keep the Souder family in my thoughts and prayers.

  • I have seen Clayton in almost every service since I came to serve at the church. Clayton was a dedicated and faithful worshiper of the Lord and we will miss him, but I have no doubt of his sainthood.
