Clarence W. Baker Jr., age 66, of Wooster Rd. Mount Vernon, died May 4, 2003, at the the Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus. He was born September 4, 1936, in Mount Vernon the son of Clarence W. and Gladys (Doup) Baker and had been a lifetime resident of Knox County. Mr. Baker was a retired farmer and employee of the American National Can Corp. in Mount Vernon and had been employed there for 35 years. He was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church.
Mr. Baker is survived by his wife of 34 years Betty (Day) Baker, his daughter Elizabeth Baker of Mount Vernon, 4 sisters Kathleen (Lawrence) Layman of Fredericktown, Donna Nichols, Janet Nichols and Opal Carter all of Mount Vernon and 2 brothers Paul (Debbie) Baker and Gene Baker both of Mount Vernon. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Donald Baker.
Friends may call on Wednesday at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral home from 4 PM until the time of the funeral service at 6 PM. The Reverend Dale Sanford will officiate and the family will observe a private burial at the Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
