Christine (Owens) Harrod, age 56, of Painesville and formerly of Mount Gilead and Crestline died Sunday night, May 9, 2010 at her home after a courageous 8 month battle with cancer.

She was born on September 11, 1953 in Mount Gilead, the daughter of the late Price Edmond and Francis Caroline (Ostrom) Owens.

Christine attended Mount Gilead High School and the 1st Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the VFW Post #8054 and AmVets Post #97

On July 22, 1985 she married William “Bill” Harrod at the Mayor’s Home in Covington, Kentucky.

They lived in Crestline and have lived in Painesville for the last 10 years. She was a devoted housewife, mother, and grandmother.

Christine loved interior decorating and tending to her flower garden in the spring and summer.

In addition to her husband Bill, she will be missed by her son Troy Truax of Galion and his son Tyler; step son Larry Harrod and his wife Cheri of Marion and their children Mickayla and Braxton; step daughter Jillian Hollis and her husband Robert of Columbus and their children Rachel, Jacob, and Wesley; brother Jeff Owens of Mount Gilead and his children Kalie Owens and her son Jace Carter and Carrine Robinson and her husband Tim and their daughter Emry; sister Brenda Sparkman of Marion and her children Wade and Tara; and a nephew Tony Owens.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother Steve Owens.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday May 29, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the 1st Presbyterian Church, 55 North Cherry Street, Mount Gilead, with Pastor Dennis Braun officiating.

Snyder Funeral Homes of Mount Gilead have been entrusted with the arrangements.
