Chester A. “Ole” Olson

Chester “Ole” Olson, age 76, of Fredericktown passed away on November 7, 2014 at his home. He was born on April 22, 1938 in Acme, Texas, son of the late Oscar W. and Elsie L. (Traxler) Olson.

After graduation from high school, Ole joined the Navy and honorable served the next ten years. He returned to Knox County after his military service and worked 45 years for Cooper-Bessmer. Ole enjoyed Nascar and two way radios and was a very meticulous gentlemen. He will be remembered as a very devoted husband and father.

Ole is survived by his children, Cindy (Don) McCleese of Howard, Donna (Steve) Swearingen of New Comerstown, Mary (Jon) Giffin of Fredericktown, Cathy Silliman of Mount Vernon and Jim Silliman of Fredericktown; 20 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Ole was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine Catherine Olson; son, David Silliman; granddaughters, Misty Silliman and Lorrie Vernon; brothers, William and Freddy Olson; and a sister.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at the Snyder Funeral Home, 33 East College St., Fredericktown with Pastor Tim Overly officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens with Military Honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council.
