Chester A, “Chet” Haldeman, age 81, of 17691 Murray Road, Mount Vernon died Tuesday March 22, 2005 at the Laurels of Mount Vernon.
He was born May 29, 1923 in Chester Township, Morrow County to Orville and Lucille (Kline) Haldeman and spent his lifetime in Knox County. Mr. Haldeman was retired from P.P.G. Industries after 36 years service and was a 59-year member of the Moose Lodge in Mount Vernon. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1941, and spent a year in the Service, Army Air Corps (1945-1946).
Surviving are two daughters Jennifer L. Haldeman and Lynette M. (Denny) Haldeman, both of Mount Vernon; two grandchildren Michelle R. (Terry) Williams of Fredericktown and Eric D. Haldeman of Mount Vernon; two great-grandchildren Victoria G. and Tyler D. Haldeman both of Mount Vernon; one brother Robert N. (Bev) Haldeman of Fredericktown; a half-sister Barbara (Jim) Secrist of Hicksville; two stepsisters Diane (Daren) Bolen of Loudenville and Melinda Smith of Mt. Gilead and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Gwen W. Haldeman; three brothers Donald, Lewis Dean, and Gerald Haldeman; a sister Dorothy Haldeman; a great grandson Terry L. Williams Jr.; a step mother Alice (Winegardner) Foust; and a stepbrother Ralph Franks.
There will be no calling hours. Moose Lodge memorial services followed by graveside services for family and friends of Chet Haldeman, will be Friday at 11 AM at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens with Rev. Marvin Haught officiating. The Knox County Joint Veterans Council will provide full military honors.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon.
