Charlotte Elizabeth Owen

Charlotte Elizabeth Owen, age 89, of Cardington, passed from this life to the next on June 22, 2009, at 11:45 p.m. at the Morrow County Extended Care Facility after a courageous battle with multiple health problems.
Charlotte was born on May 31, 1920 (Decoration Day) to Fred and Caroline Wanner Trefz in Marion, Ohio. She was one of eight children: George, Margaret, Paul, Theresa, James, Frederick, and John who alone survives.
Charlotte graduated valedictorian at Waldo High School in 1938. She went on to Marion Business College where she met her future sister-in-law, Della Owen. Della introduced her to her brother Preston.
After serving his country during WWII, Preston married Charlotte on September 29, 1946. They moved from LaRue to rural Morrow County in 1948.
Preston survives his wife of nearly 63 years. She is also survived by daughter Lynn and son-in-law Val of Lewis Center, Ohio, grandson Tim and his wife Angela of Pickerington, Ohio. A granddaughter Bethany preceded her in death.
Charlotte worked at a few different places: Alloy Cast Steel in Marion, The Dodge Garage in Mount Gilead as well as The Peoples Bank, Bank One, and Chase. She rose from teller to branch manager at both Cardington and Marengo before her retirement.
Charlotte and Preston loved to travel and visited all 50 States, the Maritime Provinces, Canada, and Mexico. Charlotte was also a 4-H club helper, member of the Harmony Club, Chestnut Grove Garden Club, Crippled Children Society, and Harmony Chapel United Methodist Church.
She will be missed by all who have known and loved her.
The Owen family will greet friends on Friday, June 26, 2009, from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m., at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 North Main Street, Mount Gilead, where services celebrating her life will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Jeannie Winters officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Chesterville.
