Charles W. Garlinger, age 73, of Marengo died Monday evening, August 23, 2004 at Morrow County Hospital.

He was born in Lucasville on Jan. 24, 1931 to the late Elzie and Lillie (Coye) Garlinger. A US Navy veteran of WW II, Charles moved to the Marengo area in 1967 from Columbus. He retired from General Motors and operated Garlinger Builders.

A member of Fargo Wesleyan Church and American Legion Post 710, where he served on the honor guard also operated the Legion bingo game for 18 years. He enjoyed golfing, camping, traveling, crafts, and woodworking.

Survived by his wife Margaret (Steck) whom he married June 15, 2002; Daughters Pamela Sue (Rich) Warner of Pickerington, Sandra Kay (Bill) Melvin of Lucasville, Judith Ann (Kevin) Brisker of Griffith, IN, Brenda Lea (Dallas) Bartam of Marengo; Step-daughters Karlene (Mike) Jordan of Edwardsville, IL, Freda (Doug) Clark, Marlene Wissinger and Sharon Russell of Marengo; Son Ronald (Teresa) Garlinger of Marengo, numerous Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren; Sister-in-law Dorothy Garlinger.

Preceded in death by wife Margaret (Cremeans) in 2001; Brother Harold and Sister Gladys Horsley.

Friends may call Thursday 4-8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 229, Marengo. Funeral services will be held Friday 10:30 a.m. at Fargo Wesleyan Church, CR 15 at SR 61, Marengo with Pastor John C. Brock officiating. Burial will follow with military honors in Marengo Cemetery.
