Charles Robert “Chuck” Gray

February 12, 1961 ‒ September 06, 2015

Mansfield, Ohio

MANSFIELD: Charles Robert “Chuck” Gray went to be with the Lord Sunday morning, September 6, 2015 in Riverside Methodist Hospital surrounded by his family following a sudden illness. He was 54.

He was born February 12, 1961 in Galion the son of Charles F. Gray, Jr. and Linda Ann (Stone) Abshire. While attending Galion High School, a beautiful young lady named Annette Deaner caught his eye. They went their separate ways after school, but in 2008 Chuck called Annette out of the blue and she hadn’t stopped thinking about her high school sweetheart. They’ve been inseparable ever since and would have celebrated their second-year anniversary on October 26.

Chuck began his working career as a roofer at the age of 16, but in the last few years he left roofing to pursue his real passion: fixing engines and lawn mowers to re-sell. He created a Facebook page called MANS SHYT FOR SALE and it is dedicated to selling manly, garage-type items. This description explains it best: “The only rule on this site is to sell your Carhartt’s not your pretty princess stuff!” The page currently has 2,310 members and his wife plans to oversee it in Chuck’s memory.

Chuck loved to go fishing; he felt happy and free when he was on the lake in his pontoon boat. Although he was a serious man and a hardworker, his family and closest friends will miss goofing around with him.

He is survived by his loving wife Annette Gray and his best canine companion Max of Mansfield; five children (& spouses) April & Zachary Michalski, Chastity Gray Biddinger, Melissa & Deric Cain, Kayla Gray, and Jessica Gray; seven grandchildren  Leighla Gray, Dakota Michalski, Bryce Beck, Shayna Biddinger, Kaitlynn Biddinger, Makayla Biddinger, and Ethan Cain; his father and step-mother Charles Jr. & Lucy Gray; his brother Joe Boone Gray; two step-children Stacey Stamper and Jason & Santana Stamper; five step-grandchildren Alexis Partin, Aaron Stamper, Skye Stamper, Layla Stamper, and Bentley Stamper; mother-in-law and father-in-law Lowell & Marie Keiser of Clarksville, TN; brother-in-law William George “Sam” Deaner III & his wife Amy Deaner; nieces & nephews Joe Boone Gray II, Gary Wayne Parish, Joy Lynn Gray, and Tiffany Dawn Gray; and numerous extended family members and friends.

Chuck was preceded in death by his mother Linda Ann Abshire and a niece Abbie Deaner.

His family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2015 in Snyder Funeral Home, 2553 Lexington Avenue in Mansfield, where a funeral service honoring his life will begin at 6 p.m. Pastor Stephanie Hunt of the Journey of Life Center will officiate and Chuck’s brother Joe Gray will also speak.

Contributions in his memory will benefit his final expenses (please make checks payable to Snyder Funeral Home) and may be made at his services or sent in care funeral home: P.O. Box 3085, Mansfield OH 44904.
