Charles R. Woltz, age 69, of Mount Vernon passed away on Sunday morning, May 5, 2013 in the Palliative Care Unit at Knox Community Hospital surrounded by his caring family. He was born on February 9, 1944 in Logan, son of the late Paul E. and Lillian A. (Mundy) Woltz.
Charles was a Bricklayer for over 45 years for Local 27 and Local 44 of the Bricklayers and Allied Workers Union and in his 45 years with the Union, Charles traveled all over the United States and overseas doing refractory and bricklaying. He was also a member of the Fossil’s Motorcycle Club in Newark and was an avid Ohio State Fan. Charles’ hobbies included boating, fishing, playing golf, riding his motorcycle, and just being in the great outdoors. His greatest passion in life was spending time with his family, especially attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Connie L. (Gilbert) Woltz, whom he married on November 17, 1962; children, Jan Edgar of Howard, Tracey Vilfer of Howard, Travis Woltz of Mount Vernon, and Ashley (David) Bartok of Howard; grandchildren, Katie (Jed) Todd, Cody (Sheeka) White, Brittany (Dakota) Lonsinger, Michael Vilfer, Malorie Vilfer, Macee and Meggan Bartok; a great granddaughter, Nevaeh White; brother, Rick (Vicky) Woltz of Amanda; sister, Karen (Billy) Huffman of Circleville; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his step mother, Maxine Woltz; and brothers, Phillip and Kevin Woltz.
The family will receive friends from 2-7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 East High St., Mount Vernon, where a funeral service celebrating the life of Charles will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday with Bart Rine officiating. The family will observe a private burial.
