Charles R. Seevers

Charles R. “Ray” Seevers, 88, of Bucyrus and formerly of Galion, died Saturday, Mar. 14, 2009 at home after a short illness.

Born Sept. 24, 1920 in Akron, he was the son of the late Raymond J. Seevers and Emma E. Franks Seevers. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marguerite “Meg” Dabney Seevers, whom he married Apr. 5, 1941.

Ray graduated from Iberia High School in 1938, was a World War II U. S. Army veteran and a member of American Legion Scarbrough Post 243 in Galion. In addition to enjoying his favorite past times of golf and bowling he was a car enthusiast. Ray retired from ITT Power Systems after 45 years where he was a supervisor.

Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Lana and Richard Crissinger of Bucyrus, Paula and Bob Faulds of Port Clinton and Sheila and Dick Schieber of Crestline; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Maryanne Seevers of Longview, Wash., Sid and Sue Seevers of Bucyrus, Doug and Donna Seevers of Hendersonville, N.C. and Rob Seevers of St. Cloud, Fla.; one daughter-in-law, Patty Seevers of Galion; 20 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Carl Albright of Hollister, Calif. and one brother and sister-in-law, James D. and Ruth Seevers of Jackson City, N.C.

He was preceded in death by one son, Gary Seevers and one brother, Royce Seevers.

Private calling hours for the family will be held at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home. Private military graveside services for the family will be conducted by the U. S. Army and the Galion/Crestline veteran’s organizations at Fairview Cemetery.
