LEXINGTON: Charles R. Doggett, 71, of South Mill Street, Lexington, died Saturday, May 7, 2005 in Oak Grove Manor, Mansfield, following a long illness.
He was born June 9, 1933 in Mansfield to F. Charley and Alma (Davidson) Doggett, and was graduated from Lucas High School in 1951.
Charles was stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army during the Korean War era, had lived in Phoenix, Arizona for 14 years, and returned to the Mansfield area in 1980, where he spent most of his life.
A construction worker, he operated heavy equipment until his retirement in 1988.
He was a member of Venus Lodge #152 F&AM, Lexington Senior-Civic Center, and attended Lexington First Congregational Church.
Charles will be remembered for his sense of humor, his soft heart, and his desire to see a smile on others’ faces.
He is survived by two daughters Lynn Ann Doggett of St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, and Leslie Jo Bates of Kingman, Arizona; a granddaughter Jessica Lynn Bates; a brother and sister-in-law Larry and Cindy Doggett of Ashland; a sister and brother-in-law Norma Jean and Raymond Pryor of Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews including Peggy Picking of Lexington.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Robert Doggett.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 12, 2005 at 11 am in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. The Rev. David J. Smith will officiate.
