Charles A. Parker Sr., 74, of Danville died Monday morning, June 26, 2017 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.  He was born January 22, 1943 in Centerburg to the late John E. and Ruth E. (Wince) Parker.

Charles was a mechanic by trade. He was an avid derby car driver and a former member of the Moose Lodge, the Eagles and the AmVets in Mount Vernon.

Charles is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Patricia S. (Baker) Parker; his children, Larry (Tami) Parker of Columbus, Penny Thurston of Mount Vernon, Charles (Rachel) Parker Jr. of Mansfield, Tom (Amy) Parker of Mount Vernon and Jennifer (Brian) Baker of Mount Vernon;  17 grandchildren  and  18 great grandchildren; brothers, Gary Parker of Mount Vernon, Larry Parker of Gambier, Joe (Darlene) Parker of Marengo and Rick (Tammy) Parker of Centerburg;  sisters, Mary Ellen Osborne of Centerburg and Etta Mae Leedy of  Davenport, FL ; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by a son, Timothy A. Parker in 1992; brothers, Jitter, Tom and Roy Parker; and a son-in-law, Tim Thurston.

The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until the time of a funeral service at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 East High St., Mount Vernon.

  • I am so very sorry for your loss. Chuck meant a lot to Jerry and I. We loved watching him in the derbies. He truly loved his family and will be missed.

  • Although there is nothing I can say to ease the pain you are feeling I just wanted to express my deepest sympathy to chucks wife pat his daughters Jenn and penny his sons Larry tom and chuck and to all his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a wonderful man and I have many fond memories of him. I’m sorry I can’t be there in person to pay my respects in person but please know I am thinking about you all.

  • My heart is broken! Chuck was such an awesome, amazing man! He always treated me with LOVE, laughter, and respect! He would always raze or tease me about something!! He Never gave up on anything, and believed in ” where there is a will… there’s always a way!!! I feel blessed to have known him!
