BELLVILLE: Charles Miller Ward, 89, of Dickerson Avenue, Bellville, died Friday morning March 21, 2003 in Country Meadow Care Center, Bellville, following a brief illness.

He was born September 21, 1913 in Bellville to Ira and Dora Miller Ward, and remained a lifelong resident.

Charles retired in 1978 from the Ohio Brass Company in Mansfield, where he worked as an assembler.

He was a member of New Life Church of Christ, where he served the congregation 36 years as an elder; he also served as Sunday school teacher and Sunday school superintendent.

He is survived by his wife Ruth McDanel Ward, whom he married September 16, 1939; two sons and daughters-in-law Paul and Cheryl Marsh Ward of Atlanta, Georgia and Dennis and Cathy Peterson Ward of Mansfield; four grandchildren and their spouses Maryelizabeth Ward of Atlanta, Georgia, Carolyn Ward of Mansfield, Ruthann and T.J. Rust of Atlanta, Georgia, Amanda and Craig Green of Mansfield; a sister-in-law Geraldine Ward of Bellville; a nephew and his spouse John and Marilyn Ward of Fredericktown; and their children B.J. and Tomi Ward of Mt. Vernon, PO2 Jamie Ward stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and Way Ward of Fredericktown.

A brother Howard V. Ward preceded him in death.

Friends may call Monday March 24, 2003 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in New Life Church of Christ, 195 West Durbin Street, Bellville, with Pastor Steven Kistler officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery near Butler.
