Charles L. Conklin, 63 of Ashley, died Saturday, December 14, 2002 afternoon at his residence.

He was born in Delaware on September 21, 1939 to Max and Madge Conklin of Ashley. Lifetime resident of the Ashley area, Graduate of Elm Valley High School and US Army Veteran. Member of American Legion Post #518 in Ashley, Past Commander and present Vice Commander of the Post and Eagles Aerie #376 in Delaware. Farmer and worked in the livestock business for 30 years affiliated with Producers and former manager of the Heinold Hog Market in Richwood.

Survived by Daughters and Sons-in-law: Jo Dee and William Cole of Delaware, Joyce and Randy Leienberger of Ashley. Grandchildren: Corporal Joseph & Danielle Pennington, Matthew Cole, Jo Ann & Lisa Leienberger. Great Granddaughter: Hailey Pennington. Brothers: George & Kay Conklin of Ashley and Steve Conklin of Delaware. Sister-in-law: Irene (Jack) Allen of Ashley; Brother-in-law: Ray (Elnora) Roberts of Croton.

Preceded in death by his Wife of 13 years: Charlotte Roberts Conklin on June 15, 2002 and Brother: Jerry Conklin.Step-Son: Jerry.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St (SR 36) Delaware where services will be held Thursday 11 a.m. with Rev. Linda Meridith officiating. Interment will follow in the Green Mound Cemetery with military honors by the Delaware County Veterans Association. Family will receive friends at the Ashley Legion Post after the interment.
