Charles H. Denty, age 91 of Marengo, passed away Saturday April 4, 2015 with his wife at his side at the Sarah Moore Home in Delaware.

He was born on June 2, 1923 in Licking County to the late Lewis and Pauline (Glaze) Denty. He attended the Galena High School and was a US Marine Corp WWII Veteran. He was a retired paint maker for PPG Industries in Delaware with 20 years of service retiring in 1988. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 710.

Charles enjoyed precious time spent with his wife and family. He also enjoyed a good round of golf, woodworking and maintaining his yard.

He is survived by his wife of almost 68 years: Opal L. (Jackson) Denty and they were married April 17, 1947 in Galena; sons: Darwin (Rosanne) of Marengo, Jeff (Norma) of Columbus, Kim of Marengo; daughter: Donna Reynolds of Marengo; 12 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sisters: Martha Nash of Heath, Barbara Priest of Johnstown.

Preceded by brothers: Donald and Roger; sisters: Darlene Hillard, Clarabelle Brown, Dorothy Maybury, Laura Jane Sexton.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home SR 3 at 61, Sunbury where services will be held Thursday 11 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the Galena Cemetery.

    I always looked up to Uncle Charles and admired his service to country and community. I remember you all hosting many family get togethers at your home and later making Sunday trips to Aunt Barb’s and all family events. His life was a wonderful example to all of us.
