The Reverend Charles E. Sanders was born in Lafferty, Ohio. He was called to the ministry at age 18 and spent his early years evangelizing throughout Ohio. He graduated from Anderson University, Master of Divinity, 1991, Ashland Theological Seminary, Doctor of Ministry, May 1995. He passionately served the congregation of Victory Center Church of God, Marion, Ohio from 1999 until he retired in 2010 to Mansfield, Ohio. His life was centered on the ministry and lived to share the word of God with everyone he could reach.

His prior works include serving as pastor at Shelby Church of God, Shelby, Ohio and Church of God, Anderson, Indiana, and Church of God, Climb Road, Columbus, Ohio. He baptized most all of his family, and hundreds of fellow Christians. He married his daughters, his son and accompanied the wedding service of his grandson, and hundreds of other couples.
He was inspired through reading, learning, listening and singing.

He loved to work in his garden, work with his hands around the church and home and his favorite pastime was to go shopping. He had a passion for his family and for many years he gathered his family in Myrtle Beach for vacation. He loved the sand and ocean. He taught his family to always love and put God first, spouse, then children and God will always provide.

Rev. Charles married Juanita Wright in 1962 and celebrated 50 glorious years of marriage this past November. He was preceded in death by parents John Sanders and Georgia (Gallagher), brothers Harold and Leroy, sisters Delores and Thelma (Berry).

He is survived by his wife, Juanita, daughter Cheryl (Kevin Robinson), son Chuck (Elizabeth Sanders), daughter Christa (Jay Brown). Also by five grandchildren: Brandon (Christina Adkins), Jaimee Robinson, Kelsey, Marissa and Caleb Brown. Sisters Marlene (Roger Senakievich) and Sandy (Ron Smith). Nephews Ronnie Smith, Roger, Jr., and Rick Senakievich, and Johnny (Mistak). Niece Connie (Drewett) Senakievich.

One thing I have desired of the Lord that will I seek that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple. Ps. 27:4.

  • To my brother who I miss dearly. He was not only my brother he was my best friend and my pastor. I drove 3 hours to come to his church service I enjoyed his preaching and seeing him so happy and filled with the spirit. He was there anytime of the day or hour for anyone in need. I remember when his nephew John was in the hospital and the doctors said he wasn’t going to live I called my brother on a Wednesday night and was crying and telling him about John. He said we just got out of church we’ll go home and pack a bag and be right down. You never heard him say I’m tired or it’s late he was always there when you need him that’s the kind of pastor he was.He loved God with all his heart and wanted to see souls saved that his mission in life. I will miss our talks we had on the phone everyday and the fun we had together.I would give anything to hear him say again sis when you coming up.When he passed away I feel a part of me died also.I don’t understand why God took a caring, kind, wonderful pastor so soon but I guess his work on earth was done and now he’s in heaven rejoicing.I will cherish his memories forever and never forget him I know I’ll see him again someday in heaven. sadly missed by your sister Sandy and Ron Jr.

  • It is still hard to believe he is gone so soon. My uncle Charles was a loving uncle and preacher that reached out to people, hr rejected none. Uncle would take shirt off his back to help anybody in need, he would travel to the people in need to visit them in the hospitals and pray even if he had to get up 3am from phone calls in the middle of the night to travel to a hospital no matter how many mile away he had to travel to get their to pray for the people in need. Uncle Charles had the heart of love for people and he longed for people to accept jesus and get saved. He would always joyful and never sad. He is in heaven now and one day again soon when the lord calls our name we will be reunited with uncle charles in that perfect eternal city. I love my Uncle Charles Sanders.
