Charles Franklin Anderson, 81, of Lewis Center passed away Saturday morning June 21, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born March 1, 1933 in Benwood, West Virginia to the late Encil Woodrow “Jake” Anderson and Goldie Leona Walter.
He served his country as a member of the United States Air Force and Marines and later continued his military career retiring in 1991 from the United States Army achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class. He was a member of the Sunbury VFW Post #8736 and Delaware VFW Post #3297 and a member of the Funeral Honor Guard. He was also a member of the VFW Legion of Honor in Erlanger, Kentucky, Sunbury and Delaware, Ohio and was a lifetime member of the American Legion.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 40 years Pamela Sue (Burkhead); son Charles (Bev) Anderson Jr. of Clarksburg, WV; daughters Vicki (Charles) Twining of Loudonville, Debbie (David) Ryan of Centerburg, Machelle (Terry Hughes) Tribble of Worthington and Tracey (Brandon Wingrath) Weber of Westerville; nine grandchildren Cara, Nicole, Janis, Megan, Dylan, Payton, Davin, Hunter and Kaden; four great grandchildren Darian, Mercy, Everly and Sophie.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday June 24th from 5 – 7 pm at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 637 State Route 61, Sunbury, OH and where Celebration of Life services will follow at 7:00 pm including military honors conducted by the Delaware County Veterans Association and the Sunbury VFW.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Ohio Fallen Heroes Memorial, P.O. Box 92, Sunbury, OH 43074.
