Cecil Lowell Miley, 84, longtime Ashley resident, died Tuesday morning at Bennington Glen, Marengo. He was born December 7, 1923 in Cardington, Ohio to Oscar Miley and Edith (Alspach) Miley. He was a United States Army veteran serving during

World War II where he was a member of the troop ship about to land when the war ended. He was a farmer who raised wheat, corn, turkeys, and other livestock as well as being a pioneer in raising popcorn. He was an independent, self motivated, very successful man who will be sorely missed around the Village of Ashley for his storytelling. He was a member of the Alum Creek Friends Church, Ashley American Legion, and member and former vice president of the NFO (National Farmers Organization). He also was owner/operator of Miley Anhydrous Nitrogen (Ammonia). He is survived by his wife of almost 65 years, Mary Lou (Westbrook); son, Ralph (Judy) Miley of Waldo; 10 grandchildren, Craig Miley, Debbie Hamm, Angela Levings, Chad Miley, Kyle Miley, Stephanie Miley, Brittany Miley, Paula Miley Jones, Kevin Miley, and Mary Miley; 7 greatgrandchildren; brother, Russell (Janis) Miley of Marion; sister, Evelyn Seitter of Prospect; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 sons, Gary L. and Ronald A. Miley and a brother Richard Miley. The family will receive friends on Thursday March 6th from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 pm at the Rodman Neeper Funeral Home, 307 E. High St., Ashley and where funeral services will be held on Friday March 7th at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in Ashley Union Cemetery where the Delaware County Veterans Association will provide military honors.
