Cecil J. Wood, age 81, of Westerville and formerly of Mansfield and Mount Gilead, died on Wednesday evening, August 2, 2006, at his residence in Westerville surrounded by his family.

He was born in Cardington, Ohio, on March 24, 1925, the son of the late Theodore and Vera (Romans) Wood.

On April 12, 1947, Cecil married his loving wife of over 59 years, Beverly (Tuttle) Wood, who survives in Westerville.

Cecil was well known within the Ohio Deaf Community and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

For many years, Cecil worked for and retired from the Artesian Community in Mansfield, where he made porcelain products. Recently, he also worked for the Mansfield Y.M.C.A.

In addition to his wife, he will be missed by his two daughters Barbara Jean Kazmierski of Linden, California, and Brenda Kay Joseph Bellomy of Mansfield; a sister Rosemary Mazza of Portsmouth, Rhode Island; a brother Lowell Wood of Lexington; and two grandsons Dominic R. Adams of Sacramento, California, and Joshua A. Joseph of Newberry, South Carolina.

A memorial service will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Bryn Zion Cemetery, 5520 County Road 240 (off St. Rt. 42 N.), Mount Gilead, with Pastor David Mason officiating.

Arrangements are in the care of the Craven & Snyder Funeral Home, Mount Gilead.
