MANSFIELD: Carol J. Salyers, longtime Mansfield resident, passed away Wednesday morning, May 1, 2013 at MedCentral Hospital. She was 69.
Carol was born February 21, 1944 in Olive Hill, KY to parents James & Janie (Hicks) Tackett. She married Malcum Lee Salyers Sr. and together they settled in Mansfield and had seven children. She dedicated her life to making a warm home for her family.
Her favorite hobbies included gardening and canning fruits and vegetables. In her later years, she enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by five children and their spouses: Malcum Lee “Moke” & Carrie Salyers Jr. of Johnsville, August Keith & Lindsey Salyers of Ashland, Arnold & Lisa Salyers of Ontario, Melanie Renee Brumbaugh of Mansfield and Bertha Louise & Robbie Shepard of Spartanburg, SC; 22 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a brother Charles & Shirley Tackett of Shiloh; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband on April 1, 2000; sons Allen Ray Salyers and Raymond Lee Salyers; and sisters Wilma Hall and Alice Bond.
Her family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2013 in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where a service celebrating Carol’s life will be held Saturday morning at 11 a.m. Pastors Gary Lambert and Bruce Copely will officiate and burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
