Carol E. Wise

LEXINGTON: Carol Wise, age 77, of Lexington passed away Sunday afternoon, November 27, 2011 in Hospice House of Ashland following a short illness.
She was born November 28, 1933 in Mansfield the daughter of Thomas B. and Grace (Hickey) Jacobs and attended Newman Elementary School, John Simpson Middle School, and graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1951. Carol also attended Mansfield Business College where she studied data entry, and truck driving school to earn her CDL.
Carol worked as a tester for Hartman Electric retiring in 1977, and also drove the bus for Richland County Newhope retiring in 1995. Carol returned to the work force at DECA Manufacturing until 2006.
A lifelong area resident, Carol was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where she enjoyed helping with the children’s summer programs. She also volunteered her time and talents at Big Brothers Big Sisters and Friendly House. She was a member of AARP and RSVP.
Carol enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre, with her friends at the Lexington Senior Civic Center and the Butler Clearfork Adult Life Center, doing the daily crossword puzzle in the paper, reading, and various crafts and sewing. Her joy was in spending time with her family and loving on her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law Shirley and Larry Davis of Crestline, Patricia and Nathan Baich of Mansfield, four grandchildren and their spouses Mariann and Nevada Collmar, Amanda Davis, Jeremy and Genoia Davis, and Tesla Baich; seven great grandchildren Chaz and Chasiti Smith, Zechariah Ziems, Ezra and Evan Davis, and Nevada and Roxann Collmar; a brother and sister-in-law Kenneth and Shirley Jacobs of Mansfield, and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son Michael G. Wise, four brothers Donald Hickey, Ned, Ted and Paul Jacobs, and two sisters Patricia Durbin and Nancy Lawhorn.
Friends may call Wednesday, November 30, 2011 from 3:30 to 5:30 pm in the lounge of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, West Cook Road at Lexington Avenue, Mansfield where the funeral service will follow in the chapel at 5:30 pm. The Rev. Dr. Pentti Maki will officiate.
Memorial contributions to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church may be made at the church or through the funeral home.
