Carol A. D’Eredita, age 73 of Sunbury passed away Thursday, December 27, 2012 at home unexpectedly.

She was born on November 9, 1939 in Columbus to the late Paul and Alice (Richardson) Hammond. A graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in education, she worked as a school teacher for the Mifflin Schools during the 1960’s.

A simple woman, she treasured time spent in her garden raising flowers and tending to her herbs. She also favored all animals, especially cats. In fact she never saw an animal that didn’t need fed and she always saw to the task. She clipped obituaries for and was an active member of the Delaware County Genealogical Society. Carol was a former member of the Delaware County Historical Society and had delivered meals for Meals on Wheels with her husband.

Camera shy, she was endeared to her family, especially her treasured grandchildren. She took delight in decorating for the holiday’s both inside and out, with Christmas being her favorite, she always made it extra special.

She is survived by her beloved and devoted husband of 37 years: Robert, step-sons: Robert A. (Virginia), Richard A. (Tracey), and Denis P. (Sharon) D’Eredita, five grandchildren: Julianne, Nick, Kayden, Sydney, and Dalton, as well as her Uncle Charles Hammond.

Her son William Housden preceded her in death.

Friends may call Monday 1:00 to 2:30 at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 1510 W. William St. at Valleyside Dr., Delaware where services celebrating her life will follow Monday at 2:30 with Celebrant Don Lockwood officiating.
