Carman E. Atkinson, age 69, of Morrow County died Tuesday March 17, 2009 at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus following a brief illness. Carman was born July 25, 1939 to the late Harley and Ethel (Brooks) Atkinson and was a graduate of Chesterville High School.
He was employed as an electrician at the Hydraulic Press Manufacturing Company in Mount Gilead as well as maintained a farm in the Chesterville area. Carman also used to help his father with the Family Sawmill.
He was a member of the Chester Baptist Church near Chesterville and the Pontiac-Oakland Automobile Club.
Surviving are his brothers Charles Atkinson and Clarence (Deborah) Atkinson both of Fredericktown and a sister Norena (Les) Hall of Clinton, Maryland. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call Sunday March 22, 2009 from 1pm to 3pm at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon where funeral services will be Monday at 10:30am with Pastor Charles Wythe officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
