Carlos R. Neely, age 79 of Cardington died at home early Sunday morning, February 10, 2008.

He was born on February 29, 1928 in Pipesteam, West Virginia to the late Elmer and Arlene (Butterworth) Neely. He moved to the Cardington area 40 years ago from Columbus. Before retiring, Carlos had worked as a mechanic with Ohio Malleable Iron, J.A. Meyer Plumbing, and Jay Crosen Plumbing of Columbus.

A good father and loyal husband, he was one not to show his emotion and a man of patience who was always willing to help. Member of the Victory Freewill Baptist Church and the NRA, he was a collector of numerous treasures. Following retirement he enjoyed solving puzzle books and reading. A quit person, he possessed a vast knowledge of history and mechanical information. Very mechanical, his favorite past time was tinkering with motors of all types and sizes.

Survived by his wife of 55 years: Marie (Parsley), Children Rita ( Donald) Hahn of Ocracoke, N.C., Terry Neely of Marengo, Teresa Schuman of Cardington, Virginia (Al) Moyer of Amanda, Oretha (Percy) Boston of Leetonia, Dixie (Dave) Bliss of Columbus, Harlan Morrison of Cardington, Hayden (Beth) Morrison of Mt. Sterling, Joseph (Ada) Morrison of Columbus, and Canna Morrison of Cardington, 26 Grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by daughter Anna Louise Morrison, and sisters Betty Maynard and Joyce Cook.

Friends may call Thursday from 11:00 until 1:00 at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR’s 3 at 61, Sunbury, where services will follow Thursday at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Brad Duncan officiating.
