Carl D. Butterbaugh went to be with the Lord Saturday evening, May 6, 2017 in Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital surrounded by his family. He was 84.

He was born December 9, 1932 in Lucas to parents Glenn & Dorothy (Riblet) Butterbaugh. After he graduated from Lucas High School with the class of 1950, he went on to join the workforce. Carl worked at Mansfield Tire and Rubber for 25 years until they closed their doors, and later retired after 15 years with RR Donnelly in Willard.

Carl was very active with the Mansfield Little Theater, and the first President of the Mansfield Playhouse. He was very instrumental in the changes and moving of the theater to where they are today. He was also a longtime member of Woodville Grace Brethren and Lexington Grace Brethren Church.

A fan of all Cleveland sports, Carl especially took great joy in cheering on the Indians. He also participated quite heavily in NTN Trivia under the username HSTRY. He played mostly at Buffalo Wild Wings, where he made many friends throughout the years. Carl was a very well loved man and will be missed by many.

He is survived by his children Terry (Dale) Metcalf, Nicky Boggs, Jack (Alexandra) Jennings and Thomas Butterbaugh; grandchildren Matthew (Autumn) Metcalf, Amanda (Tony) Rothweller, Jordan (Brie) Boggs-Hines and Kelsey Boggs; great grandchildren Faith, Elianna, Jeremiah and Dawson; siblings Robert (Helen) Butterbaugh, Betty (Bill) Byers, Vicky Beal (John Masse); numerous nieces and nephews and his canine companion Juan.

In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his children Jerry Butterbaugh and Sherri Butterbaugh; and his sister Marilyn Atwell.

The Butterbaugh family will receive friends Monday, May 15, 2017 from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home with a funeral service at 2 p.m. Pastor Gene Witzky will officiate with burial to follow in Bellville Cemetery.

Contributions in Carl’s memory to PKU Foundation may be made at the funeral home.
