Carin L. Wortman, age 51 of Columbus passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013 at home after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

She attended Independence High School and retired from Utica Insurance. She will be deeply missed by her family, many friends and two special felines Obie Joe and Chloe. Her courage and optimism will be remembered by all who knew her and helped her through this challenging time.

She is survived by her beloved companion of over 25 years: Bill Owen, mother Charlene (Richard) Smith, twin sister Carol Wortman, brother David (Erin) Wortman, grandmother Ethel Luyster, niece Erika, nephews Josh and Derek, Aunts, Uncles, extended family and friends.

Carin was preceded in death by her father Del and several grandparents.

A wonderful cook, she enjoyed gardening, bingo, and any slot machine within sight. Her infectious smile, laugh, will to live and passion for life will live on in us forever.

Many special thanks to the doctors at O.S. U. Hospital, the staff and caregivers at Vitas Hospice Care, nurse Benni, special friends Jim and Judy Petry, and Chuck and Barb Core and the associates of Flichia Wholesale, your care will long be remembered. We were touched by all of the friends who called, visited, and prayed for us.

Carin was blessed to have all of you fighting her battle with her.

Friends may call Monday 6-8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR’s 3 at 61, Sunbury where services will be held Tuesday 11:00 a.m., burial will follow in Sunbury Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made Vitas Hospice or a charity of choice.
