Byron Albert “Lucky” Gardner, 73, of Delaware died Sunday morning at Grady Memorial Hospital. He was born January 8, 1935 in Powell, Ohio to Leonard Gardner and Mabel (Case) Gardner. He had previously worked for Hughes Kennan before retiring from PPG Industries. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge #376, AmVets Post #102, Redmen Lodge, and the Hiram Masonic Lodge F&AM # 32, all of Delaware. He enjoyed feeding and watching birds, collecting old movies, and riding motorcycles when able. He also loved his little red truck. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Darlene (Stevens); daughter, Debra (Randy) Tarrier of Powell; son, Leonard (Sharon) Gardner of Delaware; grandchildren, Megan Weaver and Richard Latham of Hillard; sister-in-law, Peggy Gardner of Bellville, Michigan; uncle, Art Case of Delaware; Megan’s father, Larry Weaver of Powell; cousins and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Verne Gardner. The family will receive friends on Saturday March 1st from 1:00 pm until time of Celebration of Life Services at 3:00 pm at the Rodman Neeper Funeral Home, Delaware with Rev. Patricia Ann Stout, HomeReach Hospice chaplain, officiating. The family will then host a reception in the Rodman Neeper Funeral Home Community Room immediately following the services.
