BRITTEN DAVIS, AGE 77, OF MONROE MILLS ROAD, HOWARD, OHIO, DIED TUESDAY AUGUST 21, 2001 AT THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL IN COLUMBUS. HE WAS BORN ON MAY 15, 1924 IN RED ASH, VIRGINIA TO THE LATE HARVE AND EDNA (MOORE) DAVIS JR. MR. DAVIS SERVED IN THE UNITED STATES ARMY DURING WORLD WAR II WHERE HE RECEIVED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN THEATER SERVICE RIBBON, EUROPEAN AFRICAN MIDDLE EASTERN SERVICE RIBBON WITH BRONZE ARROWHEAD AND THE WORLD WAR II VICTORY RIBBON.

HE IS SURVIVED BY A SON DAN (KATHY) DAVIS OF KEOKUK, IOWA, THREE DAUGHTERS SUE (PAUL) ELDER, SHERREE (MARVIN MC CORD) LEPLEY BOTH OF HOWARD, JUDY MC COMBS OF LEXINGTON, S.C, 8 GRANDCHILDREN, 3 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, FIVE BROTHERS, LARRY DAVIS, DONALD DAVIS, CARROLL DAVIS SR., HARVE DAVIS JR., WAYNE DAVIS, TWO SISTERS, THELMA ADDISON, BETTY DEY AND HIS EXTENDED FAMILY DONNA (JOHN) GOOCH, JOHN (KATHY) BROWN, MARY (BLANE) HILTON AND ROBERT BROWN.

HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS WIFE DORIS “DOT” DAVIS AND A BROTHER GILMER DAVIS.

FRIENDS MAY CALL WEDNESDAY FROM 7 TO 9 PM AT THE FLOWERS-SNYDER FUNERAL HOME. A GRAVESIDE SERVICE WITH MILITARY HONORS PROVIDED BY THE KNOX COUNTY JOINT VETERANS COUNCIL WILL BE THURSDAY AT 10 AM AT MOUNT VERNON MEMORIAL GARDENS WITH PASTOR DAN DAVIS OFFICIATING.
