BELLVILLE: Brenda Sue Carpenter peacefully passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2016 in her home surrounded by her family. She was 66.

She was born April 20, 1949 to parents George & Lola (Burguess) Griffith in Charleston, West Virginia. On February 13, 1989 she married Herbert “Herb” Carpenter and they spent almost 27 wonderful years together.

Brenda dedicated her life to creating a warm and loving home for her family. She did the cooking, baking and sewing to keep the house running. Her specialty was scratch made biscuits and sausage gravy. In her spare time she loved to play bingo, and she was pretty good at it!

She is survived by her loving husband Herb Carpenter of Bellville; children David Carpenter of Mount Vernon, Rodney Carpenter of Mount Vernon, Karen (Matt) Smith of Perrysville, Kathy Cook of Gambier, Robin Cook of Mansfield, Melissa (James) Ammons of Bellville, and Tom Carpenter; step-children Gary Carpenter, Larry Carpenter, Mark (Serena) Carpenter, Tam (Bob) Wells, Rhonda (Dana) Beheler, Jeff (Kim) Carpenter, Jody (Dave) Whited; 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a stepson Mike Carpenter.

Her family will receive friends 12-2 p.m. Saturday, January 16, 2016 in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where the funeral service will start immediately at 2 p.m. Celebrant Dave Roberts will officiate and burial will follow in North Liberty Cemetery.
