LEXINGTON: Brandon Sterling Alt, four-year-old son of David & Pamela (Kunkle) Alt, of Lexington, died Thursday morning July 12, 2001 in Children’s Hospital, Columbus, following a nine-month battle with acute myeloid leukemia.

He was born May 24, 1997 in Mansfield, and had attended the United Methodist Church of the Cross in Lexington.

Even at his young age, Brandon was an avid fan of professional baseball, favoring the Chicago White Sox. His interest in baseball extended as his favorite activity, life’s passion, and focused on times when he could play the game with his dad and mom.

Brandon was honored as poster-child for the 2001 season of the Columbus Blue Jackets NHL team.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister Chelsea Alt; maternal grandparents Lawrence & Judy Kunkle of Lexington; paternal grandparents Mel & Kathie Alt of Mansfield; maternal great grandparents Polly Wurtz of Mansfield and Jeanne & Roy Nuhfer of Allegany, NY; aunts and uncles Paula Kunkle of Lexington, Don & Dodie Alt of Mogadore, and Dan Alt of Columbus; and cousins Ashley Alt, Sara Henry, Rachelle Henry, Brady Kunkle and Tyler Kunkle.

Friends may call Sunday July 15, 2001 from 3-7 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Monday at 11 am in the United Methodist Church of the Cross, 236 Otterbein Drive (at West Main Street) in Lexington. The Rev. Don Christensen will officiate. Burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery.

Memorial contributions to Hematology/Oncology Department of Children’s Hospital of Columbus may be made at the funeral home.
