Brandon Michael Nelson

February 03, 1993 ‒ November 07, 2008

Marion, Ohio

Brandon Michael Nelson, age 15, of Marion, died unexpectedly on Friday, November 7, 2008, at the OSU Medical Center of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was born in Marion, Ohio, on February 3, 1993, and raised by his mother and step father, Tammy (Simpson) Nelson and Warren Hetrick of Marion.

A sophomore at Marion Harding High School, Brandon was prepping himself to be a starting pitcher on the baseball team, #11. Every spring and summer, he would spend as much time as possible playing his favorite game, whether that was with baseball for youth or on the many Marion traveling teams. His goal was to one day pitch for his favorite team, the New York Yankees, alongside his idol Derek Jeter.

Many know Brandon from Rollerama, his second home, he was a “boogie skater” who skated while his mother was working.

Always working on his personal “My Space” account, Brandon enjoyed the fun of communicating with his friends online.

With his collar raised, sunglasses on, and hat sideways, Brandon loved listening to all of his favorite rap jams.

Having his own helmet and gear, Brandon often went down the road to his friend, Jared Gibson’s, to ride dirt bikes all day long.

Coming into his own as a handsome and caring young man, Brandon quickly made friends with everyone. His “loud, outspoken, and bubbly” personality often made him the center of attention, which he preferred. His catch phrase upon arriving any where was “Big Pimpin’s here,” which he said with a smile.

His friends and family will forever cherish their precious memories of Brandon.

Brandon will be dearly missed his mother, Tammy Nelson; stepfather, Warren Hetrick; father, Roger Nelson; five brothers and sisters: Ryan (Sierra Gamble) Nelson, Roger (Desiree Cunningham) Nelson, Randijo Nelson, Christopher Nelson, and Levi Hetrick, all of Marion; maternal grandmother, Donna Simpson of Marysville; paternal grandmother, Linda Nelson Roush; step grandparents: Dorothy & Mervin Thomas; three nieces and one nephew: Skyla Rae, Cailan Dawn, Lexee Marie, and Layton Ryan Nelson; all of Marion; and countless friends, including special friends, Casey, Brianna and Kagan.
