Bonnie Foster

March 31, 1946 ‒ July 12, 2017

Westerville, Ohio

Bonnie Foster, age 71 of Westerville, Ohio passed peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 surrounded by her family.

Bonnie was born on March 31, 1946 in Port Huron, Michigan and raised by her mother Mary Lauretta McCormick.  Bonnie graduated from St. Stephens High School, class of 1964 and St. Clair Community College where she studied to become a nurse.  She relocated to Columbus after marrying the love of her life.

Bonnie devoted her life to taking special care of those around her.  She would go out of her way to do considerate and thoughtful things for others.  She loved to surprise people never expecting anything in return.  During her career, Bonnie nurtured and raised over 1,000 children. She loved “her” babies and they loved their “Nana”.  When a parent came to pick up their child Bonnie would “quip” “I am just lending them to you for the night!” In addition, Bonnie worked as a respite provider for Franklin County Board of MRDD caring for special needs adults.

Bonnie loved tailgating and cheering for the Ohio State Buckeyes.  She treasured traveling and never turned down an opportunity to go the Caribbean.  She was a gifted decorator who incorporated glitz, sequins, glam and frou -frou in her everyday life.

She will be remembered for her sparkling personality and for the impact made as she touched so many lives, especially the babies she raised. She had a witty and fun, sarcastic sense of humor. Bonnie was the consummate caregiver with a vivacious personality.  Bonnie would say her biggest accomplishment were her children Louis, Jeanine and granddaughter Rylie.  She attended Sunbury United Methodist Church.

Bonnie is survived by her daughter Jeanine Foster and granddaughter Rylie both of Westerville.  Throughout her life she was a best friend to many, but considered Carol Griffin and Linda Willis as her sisters.  Bonnie was preceded in death by her son Louis Foster II in 2010.

Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 637 N. St Rt 61, Sunbury, Ohio 43074. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Sunbury United Methodist Church, 100 W. Cherry St. in Sunbury. Burial will follow in the St. Mary Cemetery in Delaware.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions can be made to The Louis Foster Memorial Fund, Fund number 313604 c/o Ohio State Agriculture Technical School at Wooster, 1328 Dover Rd., Wooster, Ohio 44691.

The family of Bonnie Foster extends a sincere appreciation to the ICU nursing staff at St. Ann’s Hospital for their compassionate and considerate care. You will always hold a special place in my heart.

    Bonnie (Nana),
It has been over ten years since I first met you and I still remember it at clear as day. We met you at your house as a possible baby sitter for our newborn baby girl. As a first time father, I was so nervous in the moments leading up to our meeting. Anxiety set in with the realization that I’ll be trusting a complete stranger to care for this little girl that became the center of my universe.

That all changed the moment when you opened your door. We barely exchanged pleasantries before you reached your arms out and held that little girl so closely and lovingly. It was incredible how quickly my anxiety turned to love. I knew you were THE ONE.

You opened your heart and loved her like she was a member of your family. I hope you’ll always know that we have and always will love You, Louis, Jeanine, and Riley like you are a part of ours.

You played such an incredible role in helping Kendall grow into a beautiful, well mannered, intelligent, playful and funny young lady.
    Thank you, NaNa.

In addition to helping mold Kendall, you also left a powerful impression in shaping my life as an adult. You showed me how to overcome the toughest obstacles through love, humor, and relentless determination.
    Thank you, Bonnie.

  • Your mom will always be watching over you.
Remember all the wonderful times you two shared
She was a special person to all who knew her

Please know our thoughts & prayers are with you and your daughter.

  • Bonnie was a mother figure to me. I’ve known her since I was 3 yrs old. She would help me see things from another perspective. She made me laugh every time we spoke. She had such a giving heart. Always said nice things to me. I can still hear her voice. I love you Bonnie and I will see you again….

  • Just Call On Me

I can’t comprehend just how sad you must feel
For the loss of someone you love.
This sorrowful time must still feel unreal
And you’re looking for strength from above.

I hope, from my heart, that your pain will decrease,
That your spirit will gain strength again,
And I pray that your faith will create inner peace
And that God will send blessings–Amen.

Till then, if you need me to lighten your load,
I’m waiting to come to your aid.
Just call on me, and I’ll walk down that road,
Until the dark times start to fade.

    Deep condolences,
    Cris & Marga Santamaria
