Billie R. Wright, age 85 a longtime resident of Johnstown passed away suddenly Friday, July 8, 2011 at home.
He was born on September 11, 1925 in Lockbourne to the late Frank and Victoria (Sanford) Wright. Bill served in the US Army during and after WW II in Europe and the Pacific. Before retiring he worked with North American Rockwell and GE Diamond.
Both ornery and hard working, he had a passion for football, especially the Ohio State Buckeyes. He enjoyed woodworking, antique tractors, older small engines, and collection knives.
He was a member of American Legion Post 254 in Johnstown and VFW Post 8736 in Sunbury.
Bill was a car enthusiast, who loved both Ford’s and Chevys. He also enjoyed traveling, and being around friends and family, specifically his grandchildren. He was at his best, telling a favorite story or two.
He is survived by his sons: Andy Wright, Vince (Tami) Wright both of Johnstown, treasured grandchildren: Tyler (Ashley), Lucas (Amanda), Garrett, Brady, Kaylin, Great-grandchildren: Camden and Brenden, Brothers: Lee (Joann) Wright, Moe (Sharon) Wright, and Sister: Becky Simmons all of Johnstown, sister-in-law: Patricia Wright of Sunbury, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Proceded in death by his beloved wife: Jeanette (Bayer) who died in 1990, son Duane D. Wright who died in 2004, Granddaughter: Carson, brother Tom Wright, and sister Virginia Smoot.
Friends may call Monday 5-8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, St Rt’s 3 at 61, Sunbury, where services will follow Tuesday 10:00 a.m., burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery in Johnstown.
