BELLVILLE: Bill Ball loved to fish and was content anywhere he threw his fishing pole in the water. If not fishing, Bill was outside hunting either deer or any small game. He simply loved the outdoors.
Bill Ball passed away at home Tuesday morning June 4, 2013. He was 73.
Bill was born August 16, 1939 the son of Everette and Delsie (Stanley) Ball and graduated from Lexington High School in 1957. Following graduation, Bill proudly served in the Army. Earning the rank of Sergeant, he was an expert marksman honorably discharged in 1969.
Bill worked for Empire Detroit Steel as an electrician and retired after 33 years.
He loved animals especially his two Pomeranian’s Bear and Sugar.
As well as hunting and fishing, Bill was great at mushroom hunting, often taking family trips to Michigan.
He was a member of Lexington Moose Lodge #2211, the Mansfield Elks, Mansfield Owls Lodge, American Legion Post #535 of Bellville and was a lifetime member of Bellville Amvets Post #43.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Jenny and Bryon Smith of Mansfield and son and daughter-in-law Bill and Ellen Ball of Butler; grandsons Justin, Logan, and Landon Ball and Winston Oyster; sister Margret Ritchie of Mansfield; Bill’s special friend Barbara Shifflet of Bellville; several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers Junior, Avery, and Kenneth Ball.
The family will receive friends Thursday June 6, 2013 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where funeral services will be held Friday at 11 am. Pastor Tj Waters will officiate. Burial with military honors performed by Bellville American Legion Post #535 will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to the Richland County Humane Society may be made through the funeral home.
