Beverly Sue “Snook” Hays-Smith, age 67 of Powell, OH, passed away Monday, August 19, 2019 at her home in Powell. She was born October 27, 1951 in Columbus, OH to the late Marvin and Beulah Huston.

Left to cherish Snook’s memory are her husband, Michael Smith; daughter, Heather Hays, step-daughters: Natalie Richards and Lindsey Hiser; grandchildren: Michael McKee, Christian Hays, and Reese Richards; brothers: Terry Huston and Scott Huston; sisters: Gloria Duey and Nancy Millar; and several other relatives and friends.

Snook was a strong woman who knew her own mind. Her family affectionately referred to her as “Boss”. She was an avid card player, traveling to Atlantic City and other locations for poker tournaments. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, Snook was preceded in death by her brothers: Rock, Gary, Tom, and David Huston, and sisters: Carolyn Townsend, Susie Huston, and Darlene Gaines.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Dr., Delaware, OH. A memorial service celebrating Snook’s life will be held at the funeral home Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 10:00 a.m.

  • Mike…my heart goes out to you….she is with her Lord….she accepted Christ,Nov 16th.2018……she asked me to pray, many times this last year..along With my lady friends…..we did…as they are now for you…..monday, was moving day for snook……she waiting on you….and would want her family to also accept Christ, as saviour….to be With her one day in eternity……

  • I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Snook. We grew up together and were
    constant companions from the 4th grade until right after marriage and sadly we
    then lost touch. As was mentioned above she was a FIRECRACKER, with a great
    sense of humor, a great laugh and was very adventurous. Even though I have not
    seen her for years, just knowing that she is no longer here breaks my heart.

    My thought and prayers are with her family.

  • Hi dear Mike. Just talked to Christina and she Googled it and send us the information. She also let Tanya know. Tom and I are both heart sick. She was such a special friend to me and we shared many laughs, many tears and a whole lot of sharing. We sure will miss they’re coming to Florida in visiting. I don’t know what to say to you Mike except that I love you. Needless to say our thoughts are with you. You know you are always welcome here.
