Beverly K. Short

November 19, 1943 ‒ October 09, 2007

Iberia, Ohio

Heaven is celebrating the arrival of Beverly K. Short, 63, of Iberia and long time resident of Marion, who went to be with Jesus on October 9, 2007. The devil may have taken her body in cancer, but he could not break her faith which remained strong until the end.

She was born on November 19, 1943 in Columbus, Ohio the daughter of the late Leo E. and Hazel A. (Fritchen) Underwood.

On January 20, 1963 she married her loving husband Gordon W. Short. They spent nearly 45 wonderful years together; rarely going anywhere without each other.

Bev worked as a cook in various restaurants throughout Marion. If you ate at Rhodes or Moore’s Bev probably cooked for you. She retired in 1991, which enabled her to concentrate on her most important role; homemaker. She took great pride in her husband and their four daughters.

She enjoyed her travels to Tennessee to visit her brother’s cabin near Pigeon Forge.

Bev was a devoted member of the Southview Baptist Church in Galion. She dearly loved her church and was very active in their food pantry. Her Baptist roots led her to a love of Southern Gospel music, particularly Kirk Talley.

She was very proud of her family and cherished the time spent with them.

Bev will be missed for ber special relationships she formed with everyone she met. She would give you the shirt off her back if it would help.

Heaven is getting a special lady at this arrival.

She will be missed by her husband; their four daughters Teresa Thompson of Plain City, Jackie Deaton of Iberia, Sherri (Stuart) Gattshall of Prospect, and Kim (Jeff) Rock of Mansfield; two brothers Ronald (Joyce) Underwood of Mount Gilead and Darold (Hazel) Fritchen of Florida; grandchildren Brad and Lisann Thompson, Anthony and Bryan Deaton, Riley and Jenna Gattshall, Wesley and Jessica Coomer, and Timothy and Daniel Rock; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister Shirley Angel; nephew Ricky Seeley; and her niece Cheryl Chase.

Friends may call on Friday October 12, 2007 from 4-7 p.m. at the Southview Baptist Church, 6904 Crawford Morrow County Line Road, Galion, Ohio 44833. Funeral services will be held there on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastors David Cline and Bill Middleton officiating. You may also call an hour prior to the service. Following the service burial will take place in Bryn Zion Cemetery.
